Judging from the way Uhura rejected Kirk over and over and how a nerd the girl seems to be the thought that Spock was the one who had to get her attention isn't so far fetched.
Some fans makes it seems that she forced herself on him and that he's an innocent victim that fell in her trap or something like that. Bullshit. Fans always blame the other girl/other man if their favorite character doesn't do what they want them to do (or literally "who" they want them to do)
