I was having the same thought...

Gary Oldman plays Dracula. That was what sealed the deal for me :3

It is very, very, very pretty, full of pretty people in pretty clothes. Thumbs up!

If you can just ignore Keanu Reeves' "accent," then you're gold. It's a really good movie otherwise.

My mum always complains about that scene "why does he have to be having sex with her? It's just pandering to titillation, it's not in the book!" and so on and so on. But the more I've read about the themes surrounding vampire fiction the more I've realised been bitten can be interpreted as a sexual and/or invasive thing so I guess all this film did was combine being bitten with a sexual act to hammer home the message. Also there's themes along those lines in the book, just a bit more subtle (and to modern eyes quite sexist.) So now I'm older I've started to question whether or not my mum actually read the book!

Sorry OP. I didn't mean to go all srs bsnss on you. It is in some ways a sexually charged scene...if you like that sort of thing. I guess. Plus the thing underneath all that fur is meant to be Gary Oldman and he is quite hot in that film when he actually looks normal.

Basically, that movie turned pretty much all the subtext into text. YMMV on whether that's an improvement or not.

But if being bitten is symbolic of sex, why do you need to show actual sex? In fact, if Dracula's actually having sex with people, then biting them is NOT a metaphor for sex, because he's actually having sex with them. Biting is now separate from that.

That whole book was about sex and the terror the men have of women *having* sex, owning their sex, enjoying sex....

I think the only reason there aren't sex scenes in the book is because it really wasn't done that way then.

I found this scene a turn-on as well, but I'm not into bestiality. I'm more into sex with mythological creatures, such as werewolves (when they're not fully wolves), demons, succubi/incubi, half-human monsters, monster-like vampires (not that sparkly shit; too vanilla for me), etc. (But I'm definitely not into creatures such as goat hybrids or centaurs either, so YMMV.)
I'm also into supernatural possession as a kink as well, which kinda explains why I find this particular scene hot.

It probably does count as bestiality, but if you're not into fucking horses or dogs or actual, real-life animals, I wouldn't say you're into bestiality as a whole. Usually when someone asks me about my preferences, I just say I'm into horror and fantasy erotica.

That sounds more like xenophilia than bestiality, being titillated by strange/inhuman beings rather than straight up finding animals hot. Like I think there's a huge difference between liking a humanoid and sapient creature who has wolfish features and just liking a plain old wolf.

I'm curious if Hollywood could get away with a scene like this today in one of those 'epic summer hit' - type movies. Think of all the knotting fics such a movie would spawn

Eh, this scene didn't do much for me. But the scene where Dracula and Mina are in bed together? Holy masturbation material, Batman!

I'd agree to an extent but for some really crazy, not-to-be-analyzed-too-closely reason, possessed!Mina sexxing up Anthony Hopkins was far hotter to me than Drac and Mina.

That scene is a great example of why xenokink is so cool to me...and why I hate werewolves who don't have snouts when fully transformed. It looks like a goddamn ape with claws.

And the only thing going through my mind as I read this is, "This looks exactly like another porno I once saw when I was drunk." One that involved the Pied Piper having a harem.
