I misunderstood some of the lyrics to Love Story and spent a little while thinking she was singing to a girl. ("Marry me Juliet, you'll never have to be alone") I like the idea of it as a sappy lesbian romance better than what the song actually is. The "I'll talk to your dad" part, coming from a girl's perspective makes the whole thing about ten times more interesting.

I don't know if any ladies have done it, but I've heard a few different covers doing this song as a duet between two guys. I agree that it's far more interesting as a same-sex love song.

Did you find these covers online? (I'm so bad at this music stuff. The only times I find covers is when I'm looking for the original on youtube, and most of the time those covers are just bad karaoke recordings :( )
