I don't know about that second pairing, but it is a raaaare thing to find Spuffy fic that doesn't apply the retcon "never happened" brush to the attempted rape. And there were like three seasons of ship tease before they gave us that abomination of a relationship in canon (Something Blue was adorably fucked up, for example).

I was going to make a point about apparent age differences, but, assuming that the second ship is of humans, they probably win. On the other hand, Buffy is legal in every country!

is Spike though? Wasn't Buffy essentially committing necrophilia everytime they had sex (weirdest L&O:SVU case ever if so)?

I'd really like to see a story that involved some human/vampire-romance that actually involved the human half being seriously weirded out by the walking corpse aspect of vampires. Like, have it actually impact the relationship, not just hand-waved with a joke or a comment about how surprisingly different-in-a-good-way having a room temperature (which is right chilly compared to normal body temps) body in and on you is. Or maybe address it by giving vampires blatant mind-fucking powers that deliberately alter the human's perception of sex with the vampire and make it extra fascinatingly wrong.

It is kinda weird how vampires are so often described as cold (like, physically), but the humans have sex with them without, like, getting freaked out or anything...
