If sexual orientation is a factor, its effects are so minimal compared with all the other factors that make rape more or less traumatising for different people that it's not worth considering. And even if you consider it, it's more as a part of 'sexual experiences' than as 'you're not attracted to your rapist so it's worse!' (because, really, who is? :/)

I think it's really skeevy to make rape out to be some sort of competition, like it's "worse" for some people than others, when it's fucking awful for every victim, end of story.

It sounds to me like it really depends. There are asexuals that have a greater physical aversion to sex in which case I imagine the rape would have an added component of horror, but there are other asexuals who are just not interested in sex at all, so I imagine the recovery would be easier if they had no intimate relationships for it to impact.

I guess the TL;DR is that everyone deals with it a little differently, some have more trouble with it than others, but sexuality isn't enough to decide how one will deal with it.

Everyone is horrified of rape, it would be worse when you can't stomach the idea of sex period. It doesn't make the rape worse, but it adds another element of horror to it.

I think it's about the same.

I do think that rape is "worse" for certain kinds of people, though I discount sexuality. And not to say that the act of rape is better or worse, but the repercussions of the rape. For instance, I consider the rape of a child to be far worse than the rape of an adult for obvious reasons. The same with adults who suffer mental retardation because most, not all, lack the capability to cope as well as the average adult, and so on.

Feel free to argue otherwise, though. I'm open to discussion.

P.S. Can I also say that the "having their sexual orientation ripped away from them" part of the mods' reasoning doesn't even make sense! An asexual being forced into having sex with someone they're very obviously not sexually attracted to doesn't make the victim any less asexual. Virgin asexuals (I speak as one) are not more asexual than an asexual who has had sex, especially when that sex was against the person's will! In the same way that if a lesbian is raped by a man it doesn't mean the victim isn't a lesbian anymore, they've not had their sexual orientation ripped away! They've had many other things violently ripped away from them, but sexual orientation isn't one of those things.
