Everything's optional, of course.

Rules: No porn, guro gifs, auto-looping/playing embeds, etc. To avoid excessive scrolling, if you're going to link an image or gif in your post, keep it to 3 images max. (If you abuse this rule by posting something 10000px in height, I'm just going to delete your whole thread.)

:( It kinda sucks that you have to put a warning on religious posts because people can be close minded. *hugs*

^^; I'm just used to people having a REALLY bad reaction to Muslims, Islam, and Arabs in general, so I've gotten into the habit of sticking warnings all over the place.

That and most of my friends aren't religious or have different beliefs, so I tend to feel like I'm forcing things on them if I post about my religion... my friends are usually very nice, sometimes curious, respectful and supportive, though!

I've gotten into a lot of arguments where I've had to defend against attacks on my beliefs here, which is why I avoided the community for a while. I love how any and all mentions of my religion eventually lead to calling the prophet of my religion a pedophile, despite RADICALLY DIFFERENT cultural norms between now and 1400 years ago. Different cultural norms that existed in many places aside from ancient Arabia. And everybody neglects mentioning that his first wife, who he had a monogamous relationship with 'til her death, was about 25 years his senior.

I wonder if that's better or worse than the time I got called the n word by a random anon here.

O_O I think that since I used to work in a heavily Muslim area, I've got a different perspective, but yeah. It's gotten ridiculous lately. And while I totally understand why you react the way you do, I just really think it sucks that you have to go to those lengths for something that's a part of who you are. *hugs* I'm sorry you have to do that.

Yeah, actually having interacted with Muslims and knowing them as, well, ordinary folks would help someone avoid painting them all as this twisted, fanatical group of suicide bombers who hate everyone.

-hugs- Aww, thanks so much. ^///^;

It's not too bad! It could be so much worse. At least it's just a few folks flinging insults and accusations over the internet.
