I've been out of fandom for awhile because of grad school, so I'm basically stuck in a time warp and haven't caught up with everything that is new and shiny. (Recs for amazing things in the last 5 years would be appreciated! LOL) I am watching Moretsu Pirates aka Bodacious Space Pirates now and loving it.
What in fandom interests me: I am a shipper. I like to think of myself as a tolerant shipper (you do your thing; I do mine; occasionally the squees shall meet), but I do like to study relationships and speculate on what might be. Most of my fic is romance. I've posted only het work so far, but my pairing preferences aren't restricted to het only. I tend to be more interested in female characters than male, and it often seems like I like the female characters that other people don't. I like humor and a little bit of ridiculousness, because I have a serious job and I need to unwind. I also really miss the sense of community that I used to have back in my fandoms in their heyday. ::insert old crone stick shaking here::
What in fandom does NOT interest me: Roleplay. I'm also not into drama or ship wars or anything really unpleasant. I don't have the time to have anything less than fun in fandom. I'm typically happy to read meta-analysis, but I don't post much, if any, of it myself.

Music: Metal, heavy, jrock, jpop, kpop. D, Tarot, Nightwish, Gackt, D'espairsRay, WASP, Rotting Christ, Rentrer en Soi, Arashi, KAT-TUN, Super Junior (well, more for Heechul than the music).

Games: Diablo 2 & Dungeon Keeper 2, some board games like Ghost Stories, Pandemia and Ticket to Ride. I've been meaning to play more of Dragon Age: Origins, but haven't gotten very far because I keep on getting distracted by something shiny. I have many gamer friends and enjoy watching other people play, so I'm somewhat familiar with a variety of PC and console games.

Plus a particular fondness for weird rhythm-action games (Parappa, Space Channel 5, Rhythm Heaven) and sometimes wacky RPGs (Earthbound, Tales of Symphonia/Vesperia, MegaTen, Mario RPG/Mario & Luigi get special mention). And where do I put Ace Attorney and Harvest Moon, HM64 was great but Animal Parade was the cutest thing ever.

Cartoons & whatnot: Azumanga Daioh, Phineas and Ferb, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Hidamari Sketch, Nichijou was fabulous why has no one watched it, Madoka Magica, Yotsuba&! should have an animated adaptation, Bugs Bunny is still my favourite thing, other great series I’ve neglected.

I don’t watch a whole lot of live action TV, but anyone else watching Person of Interest? Yeah, Person of Interest! Batman split into two people! Or Murdoch Mysteries, love me some Murdoch Mysteries. Doctor Who is pretty great. I’ve only gotten to see the first season of Sherlock (yes I’m a bad Holmes fan) but good stuff so far.

I like reading about sibling relationships; I love fanfics that explore the relationship between Bart and Lisa Simpson. :] I'm more of a fanartist myself anyway, but I haven't drawn anything in years sadly.

Right now I'm reading The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Presidents. I'm not really enjoying it because it has a huge obvious conservative slant and I can't take the information in it at face value, especially since it doesn't credit sources, but I started it and I might as well finish it. I'm also waiting for my copy of Loss by Jackie Morse Kessler to come in. I think I'm the only person who reads that young adult series, but it's called the Riders of the Apocalypse and it deals with three (maybe four, I'm not sure about Death) teenagers being chosen as the four horseman. Each one has a personal problem related to their position; for example, Famine has anorexia and War is a self-harmer. I need to get out of my non-fiction rut and start reading some more fiction. I just finished Lone Wolf by Jodi Picoult about a week ago and was eerie how closely the book mirrored a recent event in my life, so I drove 120 miles to meet her on her book tour and tell her how reading it helped me grieve. I regret nothing.

What in fandom does NOT interest me: Incessant negativity. Character/ship/series bashing. "(insert section of fandom here) ruined everything FOREVER /flips tables."
Major Non-fandom Interests: Fashion, writing in general, being....... outside?, art history, makeup, cooking, vodka, finding where my lost socks went, adorable animals being adorable.
