I've been out of fandom for awhile because of grad school, so I'm basically stuck in a time warp and haven't caught up with everything that is new and shiny. (Recs for amazing things in the last 5 years would be appreciated! LOL) I am watching Moretsu Pirates aka Bodacious Space Pirates now and loving it.
What in fandom interests me: I am a shipper. I like to think of myself as a tolerant shipper (you do your thing; I do mine; occasionally the squees shall meet), but I do like to study relationships and speculate on what might be. Most of my fic is romance. I've posted only het work so far, but my pairing preferences aren't restricted to het only. I tend to be more interested in female characters than male, and it often seems like I like the female characters that other people don't. I like humor and a little bit of ridiculousness, because I have a serious job and I need to unwind. I also really miss the sense of community that I used to have back in my fandoms in their heyday. ::insert old crone stick shaking here::
What in fandom does NOT interest me: Roleplay. I'm also not into drama or ship wars or anything really unpleasant. I don't have the time to have anything less than fun in fandom. I'm typically happy to read meta-analysis, but I don't post much, if any, of it myself.

Games: Diablo 2 & Dungeon Keeper 2, some board games like Ghost Stories, Pandemia and Ticket to Ride. I've been meaning to play more of Dragon Age: Origins, but haven't gotten very far because I keep on getting distracted by something shiny. Hornung’s Raffles series, please oh please say hello, I love Raffles like you wouldn’t believe, gaaahhhh.

I love to read, and people to share recs with and/or geek out about much-beloved novels would be brilliant!

ALSO. I play a lot of video games, and I’ve been a Nintendo fan my whole life. Mario, Pokemon, Kirby, Zelda, all of that good stuff. Plus a particular fondness for weird rhythm-action games (Parappa, Space Channel 5, Rhythm Heaven) and sometimes wacky RPGs (Earthbound, Tales of Symphonia/Vesperia, MegaTen, Mario RPG/Mario & Luigi get special mention). And where do I put Ace Attorney and Harvest Moon, HM64 was great but Animal Parade was the cutest thing ever.

Cartoons & whatnot: Azumanga Daioh, Phineas and Ferb, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Hidamari Sketch, Nichijou was fabulous why has no one watched it, Madoka Magica, Yotsuba&! should have an animated adaptation, Bugs Bunny is still my favourite thing, other great series I’ve neglected.

I don’t watch a whole lot of live action TV, but anyone else watching Person of Interest? Yeah, Person of Interest! Batman split into two people! Or Murdoch Mysteries, love me some Murdoch Mysteries. Doctor Who is pretty great. I’ve only gotten to see the first season of Sherlock (yes I’m a bad Holmes fan) but good stuff so far.

What in fandom interests me: Geeking out, discussion, sometimes art and writing.

Fandoms: I'm not terribly active in any fandoms proper, but I enjoy flailing about: Sherlock (I'm going to wave little flags here for Lestrade and Molly, also Andrew Scott), Merlin (Gwen!), Supernatural, Doctor Who, The X-Files (Scully is my hero for ever and ever amen), Battlestar Galactica, Once Upon a Time, The Vampire Diaries (Elijah, Elena, Caroline, Bonnie), Harry Potter, Buffy/Angel, Psych (especially Lassiter and Despereaux), Star Trek (nu!Trek, TOS, and I've been meaning to get into TNG), Dexter (although I'm a season behind), Game of Thrones (HBO series, although I'm reading A Clash of Kings right now. All the Starks FTW, also Dany and Tyrion). I miss Alias and Lost. I'm also a huge U2 fan, even if that's not strictly fandom.
What in fandom interests me: Discussions, mostly. I love me some good meta. I like reading fic, and I write a lot, although it's been forever since I've finished anything. I tend to get attached to minor/less seen characters simply because of their lack of exploration in canon.
What in fandom does NOT interest me: Wank. Character bashing. Ship wars - I'm a very ship and let ship person. I'm here for fun.
Major Non-fandom Interests: Knitting - I have busy hands. If they're not doing something constructive, they're usually ripping things apart and/or dismantling things. I do knit fandom things whenever possible--I may or may not be am definitely knitting a replica of John Watson's cuddly cable jumper (http://i43.tinypic.com/ofo66s.jpg). Language - I am a linguistics major, so anything to do with language geeks me out - that doesn't mean I'm a stickler for grammar. In fact, it means pretty much the opposite. I'm trying to learn Ukrainian right now, but it's slow going because Slavic languages are brutal and hate me.
My LJ Contains Mostly: Me talking about media I've seen/consumed recently. Me talking about things that happen to me that I find amusing. I'm at University, so that features pretty strongly. I'm also working on going abroad next semester to Australia, so that's also going to be pretty big coming up.
