I know exactly how you feel. I love Kristen Bell to death since Veronica Mars, and I think it's great that she's such a big fan, but I just can't picture her as Johanna. And since Johanna is one of my absolute favourites, I'm really crossing my fingers for someone closer to my imagined version.

I almost feel guilty saying it because I love Kristen and I know she'd be disappointed if she didn't get it, but still...

KBell being cast as Johanna would be awful. I've been generally okay with teh casting. (Tbh, Josh wouldn't have been my first choice for Peeta but whatevs). She looks nothing like Johanna in my head... But then again, that's what everyone says about teh casting. It's not the age issue tho cos I always felt Johanna would be a bit older (and KBell can play young...). It's just ...

I loathe KBell, period. Her acting is medicore at best, and he voice grates on my nerves. Her RL attitude is the worst tho.
The only time I've ever enjoyed her was in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and that's just I feel she's quite good at playing herself on-screen. Can't stand anything about her. Johanna is my fav character in the last 2 books so it's a personal thing. Fav character + one of my least fav actresses? Horror.

I like the idea of Olivia Thirlby tho, OP. But again, I pictured a bit older. But def more that look.

I like KBell but please no. Why do people want this, just because she's a stan for HG?

Johanna was my favourite character and I imagined her as being deceptively thin but stocky/athletic-looking enough to plausibly weild an axe around an arena, not to mention drag two grown-ass adults to safety from seasoned tributes. Kristen is way too slight and just not enough of a badass tbh.

But Hunger Games casting has been a...mixed bag. I could deal with Kristen. I'm more worried there's going to be some wooden butterface for Finnick.

TBH some of the people tumblr wants to play Johanna are so far off what I picture it's hilarious. But I don't get the whole age issue. She won a few years earlier, and, judging from the way she acts and won, I'd guess she was in her later teens, meaning she'd be in her early/mid twenties. Which this actress could pull off, I think.

Wow, she's...not at all the way I picture Johanna. I mean, I don't have a specific actress in mind, but she'd have to be someone who's very muscular and at least on the edge of butch. I don't think KBell could pull off butch if her life depended on it (not that that's a bad thing in and of itself, it just doesn't fit my image of Johanna).

To the people who pictured Jo as tall/muscular, remember that she won her games by pretending to be weak. If she were built and physically intimidating, that wouldn't have worked nearly as well. I've always pictured light but solid (like how I pictured Clove, thanks Isabelle Fuhrman). I don't see her as white, and definitely not blond, but my image isn't specific enough to be too irked by casting at this point. I just want acting talent.

No way. I always envisioned Johanna as kind of short, stocky, and BUILT.

I hate when famous stans try to lobby for a character that they in no way resemble just so they can be part of the project.

I can understand wanting to give the role to an unknown but I don't actually think I would mind if they decided to cast Kristen as Johanna....maybe it's just because I just saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall for the first time and loved it but I also think Mila Kunis would have been a good choice for Katniss too (perfect coloring, height, build, and everything).

I love KBell, but if she's anyone in Catching Fire, it's Cashmere. I mean, c'mon, look at her. Small, blonde, and fierce.

I always pictured Johanna as someone of mixed race descent, maybe in either the Latina or South Asian genetic area, personally. I have no idea why, that's just somehow where my head ended up. Definitely not a petite blonde, though.

I kept picturing Jordan from Scrubs as Johanna the entire time I was reading. I'm not sure why.

But I wouldn't mind Kristen Bell at all.

Johanna is one of my favourite characters. And I want her younger, tougher, and non-white FOR FUCK'S SAKE (I'm dreaming~ of Naya Rivera but doubt it'll happen, alas. And I fucking loathe Glee but she is just fantastic)
