5. Congratulations, Miss Middle School. I hope you're proud of yourself for wasting tons of money to stay trendy. ♥

I'm going to do what I do to everyone I know in real life who does that: *laughs at you in the face*

Yeah, guess what? I dress decently and love fashion too. As do my friends So liking anime = being complete loser? Thanks for the judgement.

PS - Asian fashion kicks western fashion's butt.

7. IAWTC. Honestly? I hate Wolfram and I treat him like any other idiot anime girl who acts like that. I think if anything else, his existence proves that fandom is incredibly misogynistic.

21. OOOMGGGG. Well, not about the mpreg and songfics and otherstuff, but yeah. STFU losers. Rabid yaoi fangirl and proud of it, dammit.

Not the OP but...

[identity profile] allira-dream.livejournal.com 2007-07-14 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously, I recently saw a fangirl who HATES Akane Tendo (From Ranma 1/2) but worships Wolfram and I went... 'except for the vagina and boobs, THEY ARE THE SAME KIND OF CHARACTER'.

I don't hate Wolfram, but SHEEZE sometimes his fans make me want to.

5. Trendy =/= fashionable.
*LOOKS DOWN ON YOU except not really because that would be lame*

13. What does liking boobs have to do with not being a feminist? I mean, I'm a feminist, but I'm sure my girlfriend would get really angry if I stopped liking her boobs. Or boobs in general.

25. IAWTC SO HARD. I also don't want her to be a genjutsu user either, since they tend to saddle that on the girls too (see: Kurenai, Tayuya, Kin, Anko's stats in the databook says she's good at gen too, and I think Sakura had some talent there as well?)

[identity profile] aetter.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
14. ZOMG MEGAMI KOUHOSEI! I LOVE YOU LET'S BE FRIENDS :D
(think we might be the last 2 fans out there)

I recently got the manga scanlations and fell in love with it all over again. Gareas/Ernest, Gareas/anyone for the win~!

Recs, recs... Have you read everything here (http://yume.incompetentgirl.com/tribute/fanfiction.html)?

[identity profile] meganubunny.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
24. I feel that way sometimes too, though I'm shamed to admit it. I actually just try to ignore it but it makes me feel bad.

[identity profile] zidane.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
What's with the "I AM BETTER THAN OTHER FANS YET I AM STILL GEEKY ENOUGH TO POST TO FANDOM SECRET TO SEE HOW MUCH BETTER THAN OTHER FANS" secrets lately?

-only ever wore jeans and tee-shirts before she got into fandom, and still does.

[identity profile] ignored-tears.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
5. Excuse me, what do clothes even have to do with anything? Any person can dress fashionably whether they wish too or not, regardless of their tastes in interests. So anime/manga fangirls suddenly don't have the ability to go down to a store, and purchase trendy clothes to wear? OOOOH, THAT'S RIGHT, THEY'RE TOO BUSY WANKING OFF TO YAOI. :DD

5

[identity profile] mouseydork.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
To me, looking nice and put together is the important thing and, frankly, trendy does not necessarily equal looking nice. So, personally, I look down on the trend whores.

Re: 5

(Anonymous) 2007-07-14 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
I think trendy was the wrong word to use; it seems to be setting off a lot of people. It's more along the lines of being able to blend in with society normally and feel pretty.

[identity profile] rabanastre.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
3. Uh, Cloud is a whiny emo brat in FFVII too. Have you even played the game?

[identity profile] halevy.livejournal.com 2007-07-14 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
3. Cloud is pretty "emo" in FFVII, too. It didn't help when he had that breakdown and I was like, "gjkaehakjknf DO SOMETHING".

25. NO MORE MEDIC NINS PLZ. We have our sexy nurses, Sakura, Ino, Shizune (where did she go?!) and Tsunade. I really hope it's a girl, too. Not a lame girl who dies in a lame way. Even a psycho bitch would make me happy.

And maybe we can start shipping a female member with a male member?! Or not.

7. I don't dislike Wolfram, but I'm not a fan of him either. And the fandom is duuuumb. >_>

14. No, it doesn't. :\ *hides her dead website and unfinished fanfic*

18. I'm not a fan of him either, but I think that is awesome. XD ...as long as it stays quiet. God knows I don't need any more cracky inappropriate Demyx pairings taking over the fandom. That's happened to me before, too -- you get a random idea and someone does it WELL and then you're just in love with it and no one else knows it exists. Ship on~

23. I love Lexaeus so much. The only thing I would change about him in Re:CoM is wishing for more facial expressions than his usual grim one(s). And I agree with you. :\ It feels like now it's very popular to be all "Lexaeus gets no love!" or "Lexaeus is so cool!" or "I'd totally hit that" or whatever but nobody actually writes for him or wants to play him or anything. It's just... trendy to act like it.

Lexaue so doesn't need your pity affirmation.

No, we do not. Zexion/Demyx is already enough of a problem >>;

23 isn't my secret, but I agree so much. Everyone loves Lexaeus, now, but the last time I saw him paired up with someone was...oh...never? Yeah.

1 - A-Mucking-Fen! I'm glad I'm not the only one. And I'd have to admit that I'm also a fan of the whole Pooh/Piglet dualism. I would love to read a PG fic with these two couples now.

2 - Me either. Then again, I don't know what it is. But whatever I'm looking at it's a complete turnoff.

5 - LOL! I enjoy this secret muchly. I really do. And I'm not trendy at all... in fact, when I'm not caring less about what I wear (I'm more for trying to stay comfortable), then I'm probably in the "sticking out like a sore thumb" group. Only recently have I started to wear more "trendy" clothing. You go, girl! (I'm assuming you're a girl given the pictures you're showing). And I will have to admit that I love secrets that are either controversial, trollish, shocking, or meant to rile people up. Yes, I'm shameful. I love a good controversy.

6 - Signed. Though I must saying adding a third party into both of those groups makes it even better! The Weasely twins can practically be tripled up with anyone and make it hot (girls and guys), and I'm a big shipper of the OT3 Hikaru/Haruhi/Kaoru.

7 - Just to comment on your last sentence, I really dislike double standards. Some fans (98% being fangirl brats) can absolutely love a guy who's an jealous, immature, bitchy asshole yet will absolutely despise girls when they're like that. And while I can understand on why that happens, it still annoys the crap out of me. My favorite charas in most fandom ARE the women!!! Support your sex for once instead of constantly bashing it.

17 - I'm commenting on your appreciation for non-commenting. Does that make me special? *WIDE GRIN* Joking, joking...

19 - Don't worry, I'm like that for some of my fandoms. I think I watched all of GW once when it first came out, and I haven't watched it again since then... I just immersed myself in the fandom... and that's pretty much where I stay for most of the time. In many of the series I watch/read, I prefer the fandom to the cannon. Yes, I am masochistic. I also have a stubborn streak and tolerance of pain a mile long. ;D

21 - LOL! Yay for the controversy!

25 - I deeply admire medical ninjas (go Sakura and Tsunade!!). But I must admit that the number of kunoichi who end up so can be annoying.

way to go to look like a moron. so you're not in the fandom because you like the series but because you like the fanfiction?

5. ... and who says most female anime/manga fans don't dress normally and like trendy clothes?

20. You know, you shouldn't feel bad about it. Everyone posts secrets about their own fandoms. There are always going to fandoms that the readers don't know - it makes no difference if they're anime/manga fandoms or not. *shrugs*

The way I see it, 'trendy' means 'choosing clothes that perhaps don't fit me but they're IN so I'll fit in'.

I stick with my jeans and skirts and shirts, thanks.

20. There... wasn't a tinier font you could write that in? Sheeze, I've a good eyesight and I could barely start reading it before deciding TS;CR.

IAWTC.

Though I think it's safe to assume the Akatsuki doesn't really care enough about non-fatal injuries enough to even have a medical ninja. :/ And as for stuff such as severed limbs, they just had Kakuzu to sew 'em back on.

5. While I don't think that you dress fashionably makes you superior per say, I do understand where you're coming from. But, it's kinda hard to explain without pissing off a lot of people :P.

I like to look like a girl that appears to be normal only to be able to shock and some times pleasantly surprise people. This cute girl is actually video game geek/anime and manga geek in disguise. And, she has good taste in clothes. What a shocker! It usually throws people off and makes them re-consider their misconceptions of people who dress with current, modern fashion in mind. Not to mention when you look good, you usually feel good. And, people tend to notice.

[identity profile] vespawoman.livejournal.com 2007-07-14 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
*Well, not just only to shock or surprise people, I like to dress "normal" because I like the way I look and when I like the way I look I have confidence.

Uh, I know I'm going to piss a lot of people of probably, but I do the same thing. So you're not alone, really. I don't dress "trendy", because...American trendy fashion only wants your boobs falling out and your shorts as high as they can go, but I do make a point to look nice whenever I'm in public.

My reason?

People look down on me for liking anime and manga. The stereotype of people that like anime and manga is decidedly negative in all aspects, so I don't want people to think of me as such. I dress more nicely on the days I have anime club (which I started, just fyi), mostly because I want to make a good impression not only on my club members, but as a cover-up too. It's self-centered and rude, yeah, but it's obviously worked. Ever since I realized that stereotype, I've dressed a lot "better" and it took time to shake off that stereotype. :/ Two years later, people are shocked to find out that not only am I in the anime club, but I started it too.

For the tl;dr, the world is unfair, and stereotypes are real. I don't look down on people, but yeah I dress better than my anime club members to distance myself from that stereotype. There is nothing good about it.

7. Thank you. I get so tired of scrolling through nothing but "Yuuram Yuuram Wolfyuu Yuuram" when I look for KKM fanfics. There are only about a billion other characters in the show, people.

19. GW was my first official fandom too. I feel terrible now for playing into every single one of the stereotypes. (I still have a soft spot for Trowa, even though I'm guilty of RPing him where he spoke entirely in ellipses.)

2. Me neither, i do think the RAEP TIEM threads on 4chan are pretty cool though.

5. Most, if not all of the anime fangirls I know dress very well. :/

13. This confuses me, liking boobs in even a "perverted" anime does not make you anti-feminist.

15. I bet he/she turns out to be a male, because Kishimoto LOVES men that barely look like men. I'm more interested in Akatsuki leader though, so I haven't found myself caring about that characters.
