This. I'm not going to donate money to someone I'm fond of online for a computer. Computers are useful and semi-important but there is no time frame. But for an abortion? I'm going to give you that money asap.

I'm not really for abortions myself, but I'd have a lot more respect for someone who came out and admitted they couldn't do it without help than to lie about it.

Pro-life/pro-choice is a huge, highly emotional and highly personal debate for a lot of people, and I just feel like it would have been more respectful of this person to respect others' opinions and let them make the decision to help her for themselves rather than misleading them. It just feels like she lied because she thought she could get more money if half her followers didn't realize that according to their own personal beliefs they were contributing in murder (not wanting to get into the whole pro-whichever debate though, of course, just saying that this is the part that really gets to me - the fact that any group that would feel so strongly about an issue would be tricked into contributing to it against their will).

I don't care what it's for, you should never, ever lie to someone about what you're going to use money for if they gave it to you for a specific reason, IMO. Particularly when it involves an issue that people feel so strongly on one way or the other. I doubt you'd be happy if you gave money to someone to fix their car, and they instead donated it to an anti-abortion group.

The lying is not good, but lying to get money for a necessary medical procedure is not at all the same as lying to donate money to a political group.
