THIS. I can't figure out why he doesn't have a wacky legion of fangirls. That's probably a good thing, but he's just so darn wonderful and charming that I don't get why he doesn't get that much attention, fandomwise.

i know, i don't get it either. there is something about him that is so utterly compelling. but maybe it's because he seems like such a generic alpha male type at first glance. but he's so deeeeeep and good and his soulful eyes and oh god all the emotions. i hope we see much more of him in the future.

Me either. First off, he's gorgeous. He's completely my physical ideal. He also has actual acting talent, which isn't always true of the most attractive actors. Third, he seems like a genuinely nice guy. Like, he has the body of the typical alpha guy but not the personality. He seems like he'd be fun to talk to. And he's got depth.

All in all, he may be the perfect man.

I never got why he did get more popular after Thor. I mean, Loki is awesome and all, but I barely noticed him when Thor was on the screen. And I'm usually a villain girl. But Thor was just too amazing to pick anyone but him.

I agree with everything you just said. He's gorgeous, but also fairly normal, and that's just really, really attractive.

All in all, he may be the perfect man.

Yup. That about covers it.

I fangirl for both Thor and Loki, but I only fixated on Loki (and Hiddles) after I'd been in the fandom for a few months. CH caught my attention right away. And honestly, I think Thor is a lot of fun to write, fan fiction-wise, which why I don't get the lack of Thor-centric fic.

I don't understand why Loki is so overhyped over Thor in fandom either. I'm honestly mystified by it. Thor was a genuinely likable character. Adorkable, badass, and built like a god.

I didn't really like Loki though. He just struck me as being a whiny little brat. I mean really--Odin found an abandoned frost giant and, despite the animosity between their peoples, took the child in and raised it as his own son. As royalty. And instead of being thankful and continuing to love his father and brother, both of whom truly love him in return, Loki loses his shit. Seriously--it just struck me as being a really flimsy back story for a major villain. I didn't find him sympathetic at all. I wanted to shout at the screen and tell him to shut up and quit crying.

I wonder if Thor isn't more popular because he's a brat who actually gets better and turns into a good man, so the fangirls can't proclaim that he's misunderstood. But I personally love him to pieces.

I liked and sympathized with Loki, mainly because I saw my worst traits in him. I don't think it was flimsy---bad cases of sibling rivalry can take their toll on people. Also, he was never told he was adopted before that, and since he seems pretty analytical and politically minded, it's easy to see how he would guess that he was merely a pawn, not genuinely loved. So he feels he has to earn that---the thing about supervillains is that they never go about things the right way and their actions are never truly justified, which is where they lose our sympathy. You have to admit that the scene where Loki goes to tell Thor that he's permanently banished is pure gold, though---possibly the best villain/hero confrontation I've seen in a comic book movie, and that includes The Dark Knight.

ah, the moment i fell in love with thor.

I always found Loki a more interesting character because his development from hero-ish to evil was more believable that Thor's development from jerkass to hero. Thor's process was like: Jerkass, Girl, Can't lift hammer, Make out session, suddenly sacrificing myself for girl. I was with Loki, "Dude, you went from KILL them all to live in harmony from spending like 4 days with some girl?"

I for one found Thor utterly boring and dumb. Also, physically, I def understand why people find him pretty, but he's really really not my type (too big, and the whole tall/blue eyes/blond hair).

(Anonymous) 2012-04-29 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry, I liked CH in Thor, but I'm as bored as fuck of seeing him in absolutely EVERYTHING at the moment.

Outliers among the outliers! Haha! I love it.

I melt every time I see him... and then when he speaks? Auuughaksdfj.
