...I actually don't know what to say to this. On the one hand, this is a bit trolly and not okay. On the other, who has honestly never wished for people around to do housework/fight to the death/what have you? Slavery is horrible and all, but fantasy-wise, it's not really that bad.

I think there is big difference between, "Oh, Jeeves, do my laundry" and "Oh, Jeeves, Thunderdome time!"

Everyone would love a live in maid at one time or another because we feel too lazy to do things every so often. But to have someone trying to kill someone else for sport? I don't think many people would want that.

Does OP say they would make them kill each other, though? They said slaves, not gladiators who they could kill off for entertainment. I wouldn't mind having a bunch of Spartacus men to watch wrestling in mud or sth all the time, tbh.

OP here: To clarify - I'd have no desire to kill them off as entertainment. But I'd totally go for the wrestling in mud/them serving me wine and grapes thing.

I would watch the hell out of that. Gentlemen's gentlemen fighting with the time honoured weapons of sarcasm and specially-sharpened brollies. All in immaculate white gloves, naturally.

OP: Well, for me it is mostly "Jeeves, do my laundry!" But more on a live-in basis.

The show actually probably portrays gladiators wrongly in the sense that as slaves they were actually prized possesions (and many were free men in it for the glory). So Basically Batiatus just treats his gladiators like crap (we know as much from his father).

But yeah, I'd totally want scantily clad slaves serving me wine and food and doing all the crappy household chores, while being eyecandy.

I dunno about you, but I'd love to see an episode of Jeeves and Wooster where Jeeves runs around battling post-apocalyptic punks while remaining all Stephen Fry and shit.

Does really no one else want to watch people killing each other for sport? I feel like that's the only kind of 'sport' I could get into, really.

Blah blah and I know people will call me troll but I've actually planned how I could have death matches with the least amount of moral uprising. (Of course, the public wouldn't know.)

The hypocrisy in this thread amazes me -- you and the OP are the only honest people in it. We watch people killing each other for sport all the time: we just use special effects to create the depictions, is all.

I agree with this. Wishing you could do something doesn't mean you're going to. Like how many people have wished they could be the fictional character who punches their shitty boss in the face vs. how many people that actually try?

I could wish that I were the princess of a country devotedly loyal to me and I was filthy rich and owned beautiful slaves and servants all over a palace of gold and diamonds. So what?

OP here: Thank you! And no, I am in my way planning to kidnap someone and force them into slavery, or something weird like that.. But I really cant deny I find the idea of being rich and owning slaves Roman-style an appealing fantasy. ohh, and the villa ain't bad either...

Yeah I am 100% on-board with this fantasy.

I will admit to wishing I had servants who could do things for me but that's a bit different that wishing you actually OWNED other human beings. My fantasies are more like, wishing I had the money to pay for a maid to do chores for me so I don't have to.
