I don't understand anti-fanfic authors in general, but rich and famous anti-fanfic authors are so hilarious to me. "THESE CHARACTERS ARE MY BABIES!!!11!!" lol shut the fuck up and go cry into your money and movie deals. I have no idea the level of wealth or fame this author has, OP, but either way, I don't blame you.

I don't get it either. It's not hurting them. It's not hurting their "babies" or even their canons. What exactly is it doing except keeping the fans you've gained happy until the new book drops? I mean, save for some crappy in-it-for-the-money Harlequin type authors, there's usually at least a year between books. That's a long cooling off period.

I have a lot of love for Stephanie Bond, not so much because her books are so awesome because they're not exactly le Carre or anything, but she actually had a fanfiction contest. Embrace the love, authors, and you embrace the fans (and their money). Everybody wins.

I totally get why they might hate it, but at the same time they can just ignore it and go check the balances on their accounts. I agree last thing you want to do is upset or turn off your fan base.

Having a lot of money and a movie deal quite frankly has nothing to do with the level of attachment to your characters. I don't understand why you would understand rich anti-fanfic authors less than regular ones.
