Skepticism is a perfectly legitimate reaction to any adaptation of source material in which one is invested. I was skeptical of both the Guy Ritchie movies and the BBC series before they came out as well. Now, semi-coherent rage, that's something else...

(Of course, skepticism is also generally a legitimate reaction to any new canon, period. Unless its coming from a creative mind I already know and trust or as gotten good review from people I trust, I tend to approach even the best sounding new show/movie/both with tentative optimism at best. Anything more than that is setting yourself up for disappointment, IMO).
