This. I'm fine with intelligent and spirited discussion of the pros and cons of the show.

But as an Author Conan Doyle fan?

Do the haters understand just how many times the sherlock holmes series have gone through the ringer? They've been adapted so many times. One more shitty or brilliant show is just another drop in the ocean, either way. No matter how they spin these stories, nothing "sacred" will be lost.

The comparative analysis is interesting because they are clearly similar shows (the old pixar vs. dream works argument) . But getting defensive and the like... well, for example, dream works and pixar release similar-topic-ed movies as a fucking business strategy. Because of the doubled hype, everyone makes more money in the end.

It's totally fine to be critical or excited, I think both sides have valid points! But we know so little about this thing that anyone giving 100% or more on a single viewpoint is .... very foolish. Come on, didn't you guys learn anything from the stories?

Furthermore, a truly good series adaptation will, I think.... withstand the test of time.

*haters, and stanners I suppose. Or rather haters on both sides?

Honestly it probably doesn't help that Moffat joins in on the Elementary hate.
