Since Europe isn't one big country but a continent with a big bunch of different cultures etc. I don't think "European" is an accurat category to put people in. It's like saying "You sound Asian" or "You sound South-American".

But maybe I see that wrong since I'm from Europe myself. Anyway, so why does the OP sound European to you and what classifies someone as having a European opinion? (nop not sarcasm I'm really interested^^)

As a fellow European I think it was supposed to be sarcasm. Then again... lots of people love to think of all European countries as one big hivemind ;)

It was sarcasm. I'm well aware of this. ^^;

To explain though, I'm part of a REALLY, REALLY international fandom, and it is a mindset I legitimately do see from fans- the last part of the statement- with some unfortunate frequency. Usually this comes from fans from more liberal countries*, i.e. Norway, Denmark, etc.

*This is far from a condemnation of liberals. I am very liberal myself.

I'm sorry for missing that, apparently I'm not at the top of my game today and also pretty stand-offish xD

Though I wonder why this is. I mean not liking parts of a culture that isn't as liberal as yours is understandable and probably normal but I wonder how people get the "you're the same as your country" mindset stuck in their head.

Can I ask what exactly you mean by that, the attitude you generally see from Danes, Norwegians etc.? I'm not sure I understand what you're saying, and it's just that I'm a Dane, and I'm always curious about how we generally come across to others :)
