Funny you say that. I've been called a pedophile and a mysogynist by Americans several times, because my European country has lower age of consent and because abortion is illegal and widely disapproved (mostly by women themselves, shocking as it is). I don't even agree with those, I just mentioned that it took me some time to accept some concepts because I was raised in a culture preaching different values and I was still dogpiled for not knowing what is right instinctively.

Where are you from? I thought Ireland, but the age of consent there is really close to that of the US.

(You're certainly going to see that same attitude from other Europeans though regarding abortion. Americans probably talk about abortion rights more because it's actually a big issue here, that being said. I seriously don't know any Americans who aren't really conservative themselves that think the country is OMG SO TOLERANT THOUGH, and the idea that OP is American just strikes me as really unlikely because the SJ movement is notoriously harsh on the US. Plus, OP mentioned ALL KINDS of issues, not just age of consent and abortion. That being said, being dogpiled was very inappropriate though unsurprising from SJwarriors, and I'm sorry that happened to you. I grew up disapproving of abortion as well because I didn't know better and was fed a lot of false truths from places I trusted.)

Since Europe isn't one big country but a continent with a big bunch of different cultures etc. I don't think "European" is an accurat category to put people in. It's like saying "You sound Asian" or "You sound South-American".

But maybe I see that wrong since I'm from Europe myself. Anyway, so why does the OP sound European to you and what classifies someone as having a European opinion? (nop not sarcasm I'm really interested^^)

To explain though, I'm part of a REALLY, REALLY international fandom, and it is a mindset I legitimately do see from fans- the last part of the statement- with some unfortunate frequency. Usually this comes from fans from more liberal countries*, i.e. Norway, Denmark, etc.

*This is far from a condemnation of liberals. I am very liberal myself.

Europe is not a single country with homogonous 'uber liberal' beliefs. Try getting an abortion when you have been raped in Ireland, or going on a gay rights march in Ukraine.

Yeah, Ireland may be more liberal it regards to some issues, but almost all the political canidates I've come across are really conservative when it comes to abortion.
