Pff, since getting into fanfic I'm kind of envious of people who can write good porn. I can write everything but sex and it's a little frustrating sometimes.

It's okay, anon. I can't write anything except fluff and ... fluff with a bit of plot? Everything else just falls flat. If you want to write other things, maybe try a collaboration?

I know how you feel, only it's kinda the other way around for me. I can't write sex at all, I get ideas for porn fic but it all looks terrible when I write it. Maybe try adding little bits of not-porn to your fics till you get more confident? I don't know... I have two porn fics I never deleted that I keep going back and changing. I don't think I'll ever get them to where I'll want to post them, but it's something I can practice on.

I'm almost that way. I can write other things, but I struggle to write, do so incredibly slowly, etc. Writing terrible porn for my, er, personal enjoyment, that I delete as soon as written? That on the other hand I'm able to write awfully quickly. Bugger.

It takes a little bit of work and a lot of not talking yourself down but you can get out of the rut. Pick a challenge. Don't try to make it too long. Just, do it. And maybe the first time it's not great, but hey thats how it was the first time you did porn, probably, too.

I have the exact reverse problem, anon. Well, when I can write, I do. While lots of us would LIKE to be able to write porn, I can get why it would be tiring after a while. May I suggest doing what someone else me recommended; trying a challenge or something, just to get outta the rut?

I'm exactly the same. I can write porn but nothing else.

Even if I come up with a good story idea it just WON'T work right when I try to write it down. Or I have a good idea that's only a few lines long and I can't work out how to turn it into a whole fic.

This, OP. I'm the same. I would give anything to plot the way some of the writers I admire plot. Sometimes I want to write and post on a whim but the only thing that ever comes to mind is yet another smutfic. And I worry that people will get bored with it...because I'm kind of bored writing it.

I have the opposite problem. I used to be able to write 1000 word sex fics but nowadays I can't make myself think in anything beneath about 30,000 words of gen. What the hell.
