I thought it was kinda stupid how they did things like "leading the aliens around tight corners of apartments which will wreck half of the buildings". Tony can fly, could he not take them higher and fight them up there? Either way they'll end up falling on New York and flattening shit.

Especially since they showed Cap trying to get civilians off the streets. So, where are they going? They can't be going into the buildings the Avengers are happily destroying.

He'd directed officers to take the citizens through basements and the subway system.

But clearly there need to be evacuation protocols in place for when aliens try to enslave the Earth and set about destroying cities. All that panicking was so inefficient.

Well, that makes a bit more sense, I must have missed that part. And seriously, no need to get defensive over a movie.

It's just kinda jarring to have the Avengers quipping and doing awesome moves or whatever and the immense property damage of places that are either shown or must be assumed to have people inside them being the elephant in the room.

It was a very funny scene though, and quite long since Cap had to give the orders, the policeman refuse to follow them at first, then Cap kicked some chitauri ass and the Policeman followed them, so I have no idea why you missed it.

Also, it's kinda jarring to have someone complaining of the Avengers not caring about civilians since there are at least four scenes showing them doing exactly that. It's not until after the police gets involved and starts evacuating people from the buildings when the quips start, and most of them sound to be them just trying to keep moral up since it's five people against an army.

I mean that I missed exactly where he told the cops to put the civs. Or I forgot, I haven't seen the movie in a while.

Well, the movie does that. Show a scene or two of something and then never bring it up again. It's not that they don't care about civilians, because they're imaginary, I'm not gonna try and deduce what the writers were trying to do with them, just that there's no acknowledgement about what they're destroying -- and since the movie shied away from showing the aliens actually hurting anyone most of the time, it's hard to see that somber 9/11 parallel near the end and not go "so how many people did the heroes kill while they were making jokes and crushing apartments..."
