Actually, I don't think this is a bad thing at all. It's keeping you aware of the various tropes you're using and I'd imagine it would improve your fic.

I think OP is talking about a fic someone else wrote.

IA though, I don't see anything wrong with it.

Ah, blerg, must have read over the word "favorite"

(Anonymous) 2012-06-03 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I want that bird thing. Where can I get one?

(Anonymous) 2012-06-03 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I know some people bash author the open pages for their own works on TV Tropes, but most fanfic writers I've seen were very flattered when they found out someone else opened a page for their works.

I find this weirdly awesome

This actually sounds pretty cool. I would be jumping up and down if someone went through and tropefied anything I had written.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-03 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
So, is it Wind Up Bird chronicles fanfic? I didn't know this existed...

OP

(Anonymous) 2012-06-03 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
No. If that's what the picture is from, well, it's Google Images' fault.

My first thought when I saw this picture was also WUBC; never seen fic for it, though I have for Kafka on the Shore

I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Most authors should be flattered if someone else made a page for their work. It means you've got your own mini-fanbase, right? Isn't that nice?

If anyone made a TvTropes page for any of my crummy work I think I'd jump off the walls in extreme joy. And I might have to shower that person with a bunch of praise too.

Even a FanFic Recs would be awesome. . .

...

...

If this is the fic I'm thinking it is, you should definitely post it.

Honestly, I think you should post it. Most authors I've seen are incredibly flattered when people make TV Tropes pages for their fic/s. You'd probably make them really happy.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-04 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds fine to me. I like seeing the kinds of TV tropes fics/movies/books have :D

I'm not TVTrope savvy - Can you post it anonymously? Or make a sock account and post it if you fear the author will rip you a new one for mentioning a trope?

I do this for, like...real life. Not to mention my own fics. So no judgment here. >____>

(Anonymous) 2012-06-04 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
I wish someone would do that to mine. Someone did a page on a really crappy work in the fandom and it just pisses me off. And yes I am jealous :(

A common writing trick is to be aware of genre tropes but some writers can be sensitive. I'd post just to let the author know, poking fun at myself for being a bit geeky, and ask if she wanted to see it.
