Hello!

I don't know about you, but one of the few changes I actually did like in LJ was the handy 'new' comment things that popped up when you revisted a page. Fortunately, there is a way to implement them in DW and make them work in the same way. The steps I'm going to detail have been tried and tested in both Firefox and Chrome, and should work without much problems.

Here is the guide. Now with less giant scrolly comment.

I think a lot of people in fandom are jealous of characters' hair. I'm white but my hair is very very thick and kind of troublesome to maintain, so while it's not as tough to maintain as yours sounds like I can sympathize.

Actually, I don't think this is a bad thing at all. It's keeping you aware of the various tropes you're using and I'd imagine it would improve your fic.

I don't hate Tenlin perse, but I definitely hate it when people slut-shame Pema. I mean, Tenzin said it himself. Lin and he were growing apart. And frankly, looking at how different their personalities are, that make sense. Don't me wrong, it seems likely the breakup was messy, and I don't expect Lin to LIKE Pema, but maybe we could give everyone involved the benefit of the doubt and assume they are grown people. Tenzin fell out of love with Lin and/or decided their relationship would no longer work, and when Pema confessed to him, he went for it, and found love again. There is nothing wrong with that, and it would certainly be better than staying in a dysfunctional relationship with Lin.

I was just rewatching this show (because I'm packaging it with Veep to send to my mom for her birthday) and I wish I'd remembered it when my dad was the communications guy for our mayor. Because some of the rants Tucker goes on about the cats he has to herd for the PM are exactly what my dad would say over dinner about city councillors and staffers and such. I mean, with fewer sexist metaphors, but pretty much exactly the same amount of swearing.

BTW, my dad is one of the smartest, fairest people I know, which is why he gets so volcanically frustrated when public servants go out of their way to be self-serving, indiscreet, idiotic buffoons. I think good people can look up to Malcolm Tucker.

Uh. Is this a Troll? I mean, how can you not see the canon crush on Sokka? It was sort of obvious as hell. There were multiple times he made her blush, a few scenes where she was obviously jealous of Suki, and the one where Suki saved her instead of Sokka and she didn't realize it.

You don't have to ship her with Sokka, and it's pretty obvious at this point that Tokka was never canon as a mutual relationship, but I feel like you have to blind not to see that Toph->Sokka was canon for at least the length of the 2nd and 3rd seasons of A:TLA.

I don't hate him but I do think that he has out lived his stay. I don't understand how he got to be more populer than Sam and Dean. I mean when he "died" at the start of this last season the fangirls went nuts. I feel like they brought him back just becasue the fangirls wanted him back.

If you're not sure about it, ask people? About whether they think you should or shouldn't. If you asked ME I'd say the only important thing is whether you're having fun, like say there are two meters

now if your Fun meter point is good and above the awkward meter line, then keep going! don't worry about it, there are always going to be things that are awkward, but if your awkward meter point takes over your fun meter and it's more awkward than it's fun, even if it's fun, then I'd say it's time to pull out and find something else to do.

As someone who writes, reads, and loves m/m slash, I would love to see a huge upsurge in the femslash offerings in fandom (as well as gen and het). The wonderful thing about fandom is that I simultaneously ship John Sheppard with Rodney McKay AND Elizabeth Weir OR nobody at all.

I'd say don't feel bad about finding a way that works.

Maybe discuss this with your therapist? They might find it interesting to learn about the effects of having some way to control "your" life.

I do this SO much it's almost a problem. I was listening to music I listened to a lot in 2005 and I realized how much I mentally associate it with Firefly/Serenity. I was at box karaoke with some friends and one of them sang a song that I didn't know but I had an overwhelming feeling of fandom, and I realized hours later it had been in a fanvid once.

You're not alone, OP. The reason I don't use a beta for my fics is because I only have a finite amount of time in which to post a fic once it's finished, before my self doubt gets the better of me. Once the fic is posted I often have to force myself to walk away from the computer and resist the urge to just hit the delete button, because I'm convinced it's 'that' bad, and my daring to post a fic is tantamount to embarrassing my fandom. If I didn't love the characters I write about so much, and want more people to write them, I doubt I'd ever publish any fics at all.
