I think a lot of people in fandom are jealous of characters' hair. I'm white but my hair is very very thick and kind of troublesome to maintain, so while it's not as tough to maintain as yours sounds like I can sympathize.

Yes, this. I can't have my hair long. It is so thick that it is basically unmanageable if I grow it out. Plus, it grows so slowly that it ends up staying in that in-between stage that is really unattractive on me if I don't keep it short. I'd love to have long hair, but it just isn't possible for me.

Sounds like we have the same hair. I've been wanting to grow mine out for a while so I'm trying it now, but it's JUST getting past the awkward in-between stage. But I've had short hair for a long time mostly because my hair's so awkwardly thick.

Pretty much. And my mother, who has really thin hair, is always commenting on how jealous she is and how much I should love my hair. She doesn't get that while thick hair can be nice, there is such a thing as too thick.

Me too. Mine is very thick, kind of wavy and constantly frizzy, no matter what I do. I wouldn't have a hard time cos-playing Hermione Granger.

Have you ever tried putting your hair in curlers? It takes some practice to figure out how to configure everything to look good, and then you have to brush the curls out a bit/wait a day for them to relax, but they've really worked at smoothing out my hair which is similarly thick-wavy-frizzy. Well, you know, when I've bothered to do them, which is less and less often as I'm growing my hair back out. If you don't want all-over curls and waves, just do a few larger ones near your scalp to help at least smooth out any short frizz there.

Mine is too, but it behaves best at about mid-back length. Hermione FTW.

This is me because my hair is extremely curly and if I let it grow out it turns itself into a giant, unmanageable knot no matter how carefully I condition/brush it. I can't let it get past my shoulders because of this.
