I'm sorry but if you honestly, 100% believe that there's nowhere else to go with his story, there's nothing interesting left to do with him, then I seriously question your imagination.

Dislike the character all you like, that's absolutely fine. You don't even need to give a reason, we all have different tastes, it's your prerogative! But the second you say stuff like, "oh he's only there because FANSERVICE!!!" or he has "no story", lol I'm sorry were we even watching the same show?

And I don't see how this is hard to understand, but at least half the reason people were so pissed off about him being killed off in 7.2? Was because they killed him half way through his story. No resolution, no send-off or goodbye. Just gone. There's a reason season 7 only finally started to pick up when he came back.

Yeah, that's the only reason I was annoyed at it. The way season 6 ended, it made it seem like the whole god!Cas thing was going to be...well, a thing. As in, an actual, significant, lasting problem. I was expecting it to go on for at least a few episodes, not just one and then five minutes to walk into the water all dramatically in the second ep. If they got rid of him at the start of the season in a way that actually felt like something was lost, I would've been sad that Cas was gone but pleased with the send-off.

There's a reason people didn't flip out the same way when Bobby initially kicked the bucket. Death's Door was...wow. It broke my heart about a billion times over, but that was a damn good character send-off. And even once the flask was burned at the end of the season in a non-Bobby-centric episode, it was a good send-off. It felt like we got closure. If they'd left it at DD and didn't bring him back as a ghost, I still would've been totally ok with the way he left the show, because it was done well.

Ellen and Jo got a better send-off than Cas. So did Rufus, and John, and...pretty much every secondary recurring character that I can think of(Chuck doesn't count because he didn't die). Hell, Balthazar got a better death, and I still feel totally cheated out of a wing-shot. Castiel's death at the start of season 7 was about as notable as Eve's villainy in season 6. Which is to say, not at all.
