As someone who writes, reads, and loves m/m slash, I would love to see a huge upsurge in the femslash offerings in fandom (as well as gen and het). The wonderful thing about fandom is that I simultaneously ship John Sheppard with Rodney McKay AND Elizabeth Weir OR nobody at all.

Bring on the lady loving!

*rolls eyes at OP* Bitch please. Canon is FULL of het. And when it comes to canon homosexual pairings, there's more femmeslash than slash. I'm lesbian and I write mostly m/m, cos there are more interesting male characters to me than female and I like the dynamics with them.

You can't will fics into being unless you write them or convince friends to write them. And less slash won't mean more of what you like.

I don't want less m/m slash. I think it's awesome.

But I do want more femslash, especially.

Please show me the monolithic fandom where femslash predominates. I clearly need to be there. :)

Because despite interesting female characters with awesome dynamics in EVERY SINGLE SHOW I HAVE EVER WATCHED EVER EXCEPT POSSIBLY THE SMURFS (Poor Smurfette, so on her lonesome), I somehow have not encountered a big fandom where femslash predominates. I'd love to.

I think they're saying where there's canon, we're more likely to see lesbian pairings than gay male pairings? Two girly-girls having a Thing are "safer" for the audience.

Thank you, yes, that's what I meant. Take BTVS for example, where Joss has as much as admitted he was setting things up for either Willow or Xander to be gay and didn't decide which til the last minute. Surprise, it was Willow, as a lesbian pairing was less frightening to the network-powers-that-be.
