I'm not a Misha fangirl. I followed his twitter account for a while, but his 'act' got annoying. But I've never really liked Supernatural without him either. I got into the show because so many secrets popped up around season 4&5. I tried to start at the beginning, but I honestly didn't like it. But I was still curious so I figured I'd just see what all the fuss was about, season 4 and the whole angel arc. That show was interesting so I kept watching. I tried to keep watching after the apocalypse, but it was mainly Sam & Dean & monsters again. And their angst, of course.

For me, it's not just that Castiel is an interesting character, it's that he tends to pop up when the story gets interesting. Some people prefer the episodes where it's just the brothers and the evil of the week, I like the arcs and all the big revelations. At least, I like them when they're done well.

Exactly! I enjoy Cas, that's just how I feel, but I also think that storylines with him can be more interesting than not. He always adds another layer of ~something~ to the story. Of course, like you said, with the qualifier that they have to be done well, like anything else.

agreed. misha's online/con persona was funny for a while and then i just got sick of it. castiel's still my favourite character, which is something that apparently can't happen in this fandom, has to be all or nothing is how it feels to me sometimes :/

I feel the same way. My sister used to force me to watch the show and I suffered through it. Castiel's introduction coincided with the time I actually started to enjoy it! I love the occasional monster of the week eps, but I'll take epic arcs that actually have some sort of consequences for people besides the brothers and the people they saved that day. You think Buffy the Vampire Slayer would have existed as a show if she just staked random vampires every week?
