I used to ship m/m because it was "the expected thing for fangirls to do". It does nothing for me. I ship a few slash pairings if I really like the chemistry or it's deliciously tragic or something, but these days I ship mostly m/f and f/f. Gotta have ladies in there to identify with.

Not really. I can imagine how hard it would be to join in squeeing of certain fandoms if you're not into m-slash.

No it's not. I like m/m on it's own, but there are definitely times when I've mostly only shipped certain pairings or followed certain trends because of fandom pressure. It's not like I secretly hate it and am only pretending, but sometimes if I'm fairly neutral about something, I'll go along because it's fun and I want to join in. Is it the most healthy way of expressing yourself? Maybe not, but it's definitely not unusual.
