Same here, OP. I think it needed a lot more focus on rebuilding the friendship between all of the kids and less on the incredibly creepy romantic stuff.

This! The romance subplot was terrible and, yes, waaaaay creepy. I still enjoyed the show, though.

I agree with you, OP.

I liked Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai and the ending made me teary-eyed. But I still thought the show didn't reach its full potential. I thought Yukiatsu's personal story deserved to be developed more because the way he dealt with his grief was fascinating.

I think a lot of people are with you on this one. I watched it, felt much like you did (right down to crying at the end, even while recognizing how much of the show's potential was wasted), and filed it away in the "decent, but not great" part of my Viewed Anime list, where I put the things that I only recommend to someone if I know that they really, really like a particular genre, trope, or VA.

I tried to watch this show and the ghost girl's voice/personality/constant awkward objectification was driving me WAY TOO CRAZY for me to watch it any further than the first episode.... I hear a lot about this show, is it worth watching? D:

It's...okay? The characters don't develop as much as you would hope, and the plot is pretty weak, but it definitely has some touching moments, and, in all honesty, I did cry at the end. Bottom line, it isn't something I, personally, would re-watch, and if you're looking for something exciting and plot-heavy, I can't recommend it. If you're more interested in a fairly fluffy show that focuses on character dynamics and has some real heart-felt moments, it's probably worth checking out, even though, like I said above, I did feel it fell a little short even there.
