Glad I'm not the only one who recognized him. I know I watched it as a kid and that I had a phase when I liked the movie, but I honestly can't remember a thing about it. I'm half tempted to locate a copy of it, but now I'm not so sure. lol

You totally should. There's this whole romance plot that just totally went over my head as a kid. Among other bits. It is so bizarre.

Man, that movie messed up my idea of relationships for a little while there.

I was like, thirteen, I think, when I first saw it, and when the girl said that the duck was his boyfriend and someone replied with "Ew!", innocent younger me thought that that meant that having a boyfriend/girlfriend means that you are having sex with them, no exceptions.

Thank goodness a friend set me straight on that before I made awkward comments in real life.

not actually a very good film per se, but it did get me into Howard the Duck, which is a surprisingly good existentialist comic series, or was until Marvel chunked Gerber. It's pretty re-watchable in an amazingly B-movie kind of way. Also, it made it to DVD! And the only good thing anybody could think of to put on the jacket is that it 'has good duck effects.'

And yeah, he's pretty definitely with Bev in at least a semi-sexual way by the end of the film. In the comics, he's implied to have a relationship with her that goes beyond hand-holding, and Marvel Max apparently confirms that. Also he had to give up his presidential bid because he got papped sharing a bath with her. Make of that what you will.

Surprising amount of sexual tension in the scene I snagged the cap from though...

I'll have to check out the comic and the movie again, then!

I guess Howard is just that irresistible in his world. :V
