RPF isn't my cup of tea, but I don't see how it's fundamentally wrong? As long as you're not sending it to the people you're writing about, stalking them, tinhatting, or bashing their actual SOs, I don't see how it's worse than anything people do in fandom with fictional characters or historical figures.
