Not the OP, but I've been watching the series "The Book Group" where he plays a very sweet shy man (apparently not too far from the actor's personality, I guess?), and there really is something very appealing about him. He sometimes looks a little like Sean Connery.

Sometimes that is very attractive. Especially when coupled with a sweet disposition. I personally tend not to be attracted to typically attractive people, sometimes because I think they're boring looking sometimes because they're dickish about it.

Well, it's not like you can't still do both. The actor isn't the character, and has fuck all to do with being shipped with Sansa.

1. The actor isn't the character.

2. TV Sandor is actually a pretty decent guy, and you'll find that most of the crazy SanSans can be identified by their many complaints about the changes made from book SanSan. Hence, you have a pretty easy way to separate yourself from the parts of the fandom that annoy you.

Yes, damn those crazy Sansan fans for wanting the show to be faithful to the source material and wanting Sandor to be more than a glorified extra.

Are people still complaining about this after the awesomeness of his Blackwater presence?

Nothing that significant has been cut from the character's storyline-- just him being creepy toward Sansa. Also, they've had to cut out like 5-6 minor characters just to make the show manageable. You can't expect them to include every little detail about your favorite minor character.

Blackwater was great but it was also written by GRRM himself so I expected nothing else. It's clear Benioff and Weiss have no idea how to handle his character. They gave ROS of all people more screentime than Sandor.

I just don't know what people were expecting pre-Blackwater, though. The scene where he gets drunk and tells Sansa his most horrible life-altering memory was rushed and silly and I'm glad it was cut.

His scenes with Arya in book 3 are vastly more interesting and important imo. I'm hoping they don't cut him from the story next season.

Note: I don't ship these two. BUT. I too was disappointed that this scene wasn't what it was in the books, not because I get kicks out of seeing a girl get threatened with sexualized violence, but simply because it was a pretty interesting scene! Drunken psycho killer gets sung to and cries -- I dunno, that's kind of a cool place to take that character. It gives the guy depth.

I think the Hound is an interesting character and it kind of bums me out that strictly-TV-series people don't get to know him very well (yet anyway, I hope).

But you don't ship them. Book!Sandor is an interesting character, no mistake, but the easiest way to identify the crazier SanSans that the OP is talking about is to just make note of the ones that both ship it and are disappointed at the changes to his character. Not that it always works, but it's a pretty accurate and easily-identified factor.

So you think Sansan shippers who are disappointed with the show's changes are crazy people now?

Not just that. She's also said Sansan fans are apologists for pedophilia. :/

Only the ones that try and justify a grown man having a romantic interest in an 11-12 year-old.

It depends why. If they just want more screen time for a favorite character, well, everyone wants that for whoever it is they like.

If they both thought SanSan was romantic in the books, but complain about the changes (to whit: TV Sandor hasn't yelled at, insulted, threatened to kill, threatened to rape, nearly did rape, or otherwise verbally abused Sansa) then yes, those are the crazier fans that I would advise OP avoiding if s/he wants to fangirl the actor and the character without decending into full-on Snapewives areas.

So what would a non-crazy book!Sansan shipper be in your eyes?

I KNOW! I never loathed SanSan shippers (they're sweet) but recently I've have become smitten w/Rory and that has leaked into GoT. Now I suddenly feel the same about Sandor, but I think it's just because I know Rory's underneath. Also I'm swooning over that pic, damn you OP!!! lol

He's also a lumberjack.
