WHO ELSE WOULD IT BE?) it just sounds like you're suffering from anxiety and low self-esteem. You're seeing your shadow in bitchy rant posts because you're worried about what kind of person you are.
It might take more growing time and self-care and maybe a few big life changes, but you ARE the person your online friends know and when you meet them IRL at last they are going to love you just as soon as you chill out and start talking to them.

You can use the insight of how you behave online to improve your real life. It's not easy to make that sort of introspection, but you'll come out better if you try it and soldier on.

They mean that they feel that they seem like a different kind of person than the kind of person that they actually are. You probably know this, but I just want to emphasize it. I've felt very similar to how they OP said they have.

Which is a stupid sentiment (not at the OP, just some subsets of nerdom). All types of people can be nerdy/geeky and in fandom and if your online friends, were you to meet them, can't/won't like you because you fit a different image and temperament from what THEY deem as suitable nerdishness, then they really aren't you're friends to begin with.
Be yourself, who ever that is, OP, and have fun. ^^

And I'll bitch about it, but whatever, they still use it because that's what they're used to. I won't hate them for doing it, they're not a bad person just because they use ugly name smushes.
Also, you should watch the Persona 4 Anime. It's got a lot of flaws in the story, but it deals with friendship and facing your ugly self and accepting it and it... really helped me out when I was going through the same thing. As cheesy as that sounds.
