I've been having the same problem lately, I've never seen a couple (gay or straight) with so much CHEMISTRY. I don't wish for the trauma it would cause their wives/families, but I keep rooting for them to end up together regardless.

I find this so bizarre. I love RPF, but I have no desire to see Jared and Jensen together in real life. The way I see it, reading and writing RPF and tinhatting actors are two different things. The people who don't see the difference are the same ones that give RPF a bad name.

Oh, this so much! I read and write RPF, including J2, myself, but I don't want or believe the actors are actually together... There's a difference between reading and/or writing RPF and being a tinhatter, and I wish more people would realize that.

I don't have specific links, but I've seen various videos on Youtube from conventions where they make fun of gay people (well, just guys, really, lesbians are never mentioned). I mean, it's not like they ever come out and say "gay people are bad/evil", it's just the implication that gay men are uncool/girly/not manly/beneath them. I know there's one where Jensen does this whole ridiculously stereotypical limp-wristed, talking-with-a-lisp thing and prances across the stage. I can't remember the titles or keywords to search for but if you look at convention videos on Youtube you're bound to come across one eventually because there are several similar incidents. I don't know, maybe some people wouldn't consider it homophobic, but I felt like it made them look idiots, and definitely rubbed me the wrong way.

I remember reading a couple comments from people that were basically "well, I hope all those rumors about them being secret lovers are true, and this is just them being defensive, because otherwise they're assholes", but personally, I tend to think they're just assholes.

I don't know, I'm sure some people will think I'm overreacting or being too sensitive, but I just found it hard to like them after that, at least as much as I did before.

I am so glad you posted this anon. I always felt uncomfortable when I see outtakes/photos/vids with them acting like a stereotypical gay person. I found it super insulting and hurtful. Yet so much of fandom eats it up and seems to encourage it.

Then it fills me with rage when I see the people who "OMG [Jared/Jensen/Misha/Sebastian] are soooo funny, LOL" when they play the stereotype. The worst part is I have often seen those same people go off the wall crazy with rage when there is any hint of homophobia outside SPN fandom.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one! I figured I'd get "OMG it's just a joke you're taking it too seriously!!!!" comments, because there are always a ton of people in the videos cracking up laughing, and like you said, a lot of the fandom seems to like and encourage it. But yeah, it makes me uncomfortable, too, and I just think "how is this funny at all? they're acting like total jackasses".

I hadn't come across anyone thinks the stereotypical bullshit is funny also complaining about homophobia, but it doesn't surprise me at all to hear that it's out there. This fandom is so full of contradictions and double standards it's ridiculous.

It's because this would be pretty! I don't ship the RPF *or* the Winchesters, but if these two were playing unrelated characters in the same work, I'd be first in line.

I agree. I mean they DO have chemistry out the wazoo and they are both fairly decent actors, (especially Jensen imo but that's just my opinion don't yell at me anyone) and I'm not going to ignore the fact that for whatever reason, the show has forced them to give each other many, many MEANINGFUL looks over the years.

HOWEVER, at the end of the day, I do think that a BIG part of the huge to-do over either of these two pairings (RPF or Wincest) is because they are both REALLY REALLY RIDICULOUSLY GOOD LOOKING. I mean, I don't even go for the pretty-boy type normally but DAMN both of them are very attractive to mine eyes! As much as I love MANY things about the show...yeah a big part of it for me is the pretty. So.

I have read both Wincest and a little RPF (as well as Destiel and others) over the the years, and I do think it would be a little bit cute if the actors were a couple in real life (having babies with their wives would be taking a cover awfully far tho, so no I don't think there's a chance it could happen) but yeah the bottom line is that I would pay GOOD money to watch a movie where these two actors did smutty stuff to each other. Again, just for the record, I UNDERSTAND that it's not going to happen, I'mjustsayinit'dbeHOT.

Hey now... ;P I'm a Wincest shipper (of the Sam/Dean variety) myself, and yeah, they're both ridiculously good looking and it IS hot, but that's certainly not why I ship them! There's many other reasons than that.

I read and write J2 myself, and I love it... But I don't actually think they're together in RL. It's just fanfiction, and in reality, they're two guys who work together, are friends, and both are married. Happily, I presume.
