Cho's name is supposed to name "butterfly", right? Isn't it supposed to be all pretty? That and doesn't HP's story start in the late 1980's so maybe the characters had very typical names? From the way I've read the first two or three books, that is.

You're thinking of Japanese, dear, and the romaji isn't enough to tell what characters her name could be. Cho Chang can be hundreds of possible combinations, but a name like that is the "Mary Sue" of Chinese. Still, in a world where people are named Mundungus (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Mundungus), or Grubblyplank and not be laughed at, such names can't be taken seriously.

I believe it's "Autumn", as the Chinese version of her name was 张秋. How on earth did that end up as a Mary Sue name is beyond me.
