We really have no way of knowing what would've happened if Cas were a girl, because we don't know how she would've been written. If she was written like almost every other female character then I agree that most people would've hated her and they'd have fridged her.

But if her relationship with Dean were written the exact same way as Guy Cas's relationship with with? They'd have probably still killed her because they don't seem to know what to do with female characters on a long-term basis, but like a couple other people have said, she'd have gotten together with Dean first.

I disagree with your view that the fans are misogynists, though. I've liked some of the female characters, and disliked others, which I blame partly on the writers not knowing how to write female characters and partly on the actresses. I don't think it's misogynistic to judge female characters on the same merits I judge male characters on...when a character only exists to be a love interest and has zero personality of their own, it's pretty likely I'm not going to be a big fan.
