As painful and triggering as it was to watch Azula's rapid downward spiral after she threw Mai and Ty Lee in prison, I don't blame them for what happened or what they did. Not one bit. I love Azula as a character and I still get kind of queasy thinking of how her story ended, but losing her only two friends was entirely her own fault. Also, her breakdown was long coming. Even if Mai and Ty Lee had stayed with her, I think she still would've eventually broken down. Losing them just hastened the process.

Along with what everyone else said, I'm a little baffled that the OP blames Mai and Ty Lee, but there's no blame for her father, who made her Fire Lord right after nullifying the title and making what was most important to Azula absolutely worthless.
