Huh. Well, maybe it's just a specific way that it pops up in anime. That makes sense, I guess. I hadn't see it in quite the same way in Western works, and not so often.

As for two, I think it makes sense, but why does it pop up so much in Anime and nowhere else? Does it have to do with all the multitude of social rules and standards they have to follow?
