Am I not getting something, because it's not like she's progressively showing more skin? Just getting more decorated and feminized, which I don't see as sexist (unless this is a character that lives only to subvert gender roles, which I doubt). Did she get a rank promotion in the second to last? Is she getting more involved in more of a state/political role in a monarchy in the last (since it seems to not be a wedding dress)?

(Anonymous) 2012-06-14 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)Anyway, Eirika (the character feature) is the queen. There's no rank promotion that can exist. As for the dress itself... the dress itself is fine, all things considered, I don't really care. The main problem is the weapon thing - she's exclusively a sword user in FE8. She can use no other weapons except swords.
In the FE13 DLC, she can use Staves, Lances, and Bows, but not swords - and the staff (which is healing magic in FE land) is the one featured in her official art. I wouldn't really call it horribly sexist, but... it doesn't feel like Eirika. It's such a bizarre thing to change, since the entire point of the DLC is getting to use characters from past FE games. Why would you take a character who's entirely a physical attacker and turn her into a healer? I'm not saying a female character being a healer is in and of itself sexist, but I don't get why she isn't using swords.

Not only does he get to keep his original weapon, his armor gets more elaborate and badass, as opposed to him ending up in regal clothes like his sister.
