WTF is with all the people responding going 'because Nazis are real!' No duh. Rape is real too. Yet it and various forms of dub-con are one of the most frequent kinks I see in fandom. I'm sure other people could come up with similar examples.

You don't get to tell someone what they should or shouldn't find appealing in *fiction*.

This. I think Nazi kink is horrible and I've got no issues if that's shamey, but ffs, generic Nazi/generic prisoner isn't any worse morally than generic rapist/generic victim or chan/loli/underage in general. I've got a noncon kink myself but I have that kink knowing that plenty of survivors are horrified by it - and plenty of non survivors, too.

My whole thing with kinks is that it shouldn't matter as long as people aren't using specific RL tragedy. And I don't mean something like "the Holocaust" which clearly was a RL tragedy, but was a broad event taking place over years to many, many people. Captializing on a specific person's tragedy to get your jollies off is unacceptable to me, just like it would be unacceptable for someone to post a story based off a RL sexual abuse trial or a RL rape. But something generic, eh, why not.

I'm kind of curious too, some survivors of sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse have claimed that underage or noncon have helped in their recovery. Who is to say someone with a Nazi kink couldn't do the same? Use fic to take control over a terrible situation so they can process it?

I agree with your point about the generic, but the way I see it the Nazi label makes it no longer generic. A nameless or fictionally-named regime would be generic. Nazi is not.

You're confusing the type of act and the actual perpetrator of the act. If someone were writing kinky fic about an actual rape that they took from the evening news, that would present the exact same problem as the Nazi kink because it's fetishizing the traumatic experiences of actual people.

To you Nazis represent something very specific, and that's fine, but to some people the years and millions of people involved make it very different from one specific act - like "a" rape - with real names, and you can't tell other people how to view it. No one is taking actual people, but making up a fantasy with fictional characters and fictional details based on a historical event.

It just really irks me that people think they can tell others what is "okay" to be have as a kink. Be squicked and creeped out by something all you want, but it's *fiction* and these people can have their fantasies however they want them.

The problem is, Nazis represent something very specific to a lot of people-- specifically, members of their family and elements of their family history affected by the Holocaust. I agree that it would be very nice and even very logical if Nazis were a kink like any other, but the fact is that "Nazis" still represent one of the most horrific incidents in all of human history and still a fairly recent incident, as these things go. Most kinks... don't.
