I do remember my eyebrows raising behind my 3D glasses in Avengers when he said that line. It seemed obvious that was the angle he was going for.

Then again, I'm not a Loki fangirl and I would totally believe it of him. *shrugs*

I don't remember when it was exactly but there's a part where he brings up Thor's attachment to Jane and says "I might just have to pay her a visit myself". Apparently many people took that to mean "I will go find this woman and sexually assault her" as opposed to "EHEHEHEH AM I UPSETTING YOU BROTHER?? DOESN'T THAT MAKE YOU MAD???"

Yeah, that line is a little bit of a stretch to mean "rape" to me. The line in the Avengers, however...

People aren't saying they didn't hear sexual implications because they're fangirls: they're saying it because they didn't hear sexual implications. It would also require Loki to see Natasha as a sexual being and a violation worse than torture and murder, which seems OOC to many people.

I think so many people think Loki was saying he was going to rape her because rape is such a popular theme in fanfic. For whatever reason, fandom obsesses over it.

Are you just going to invalidate opinions that don't agree with you now? Read the other comments. A lot of people are giving genuine reasons for why it goes against his characterization and I don't see them saying "I like Loki so he can't do this".

The OCCness of Loki? Could not care less. My point is that I thought the line pertained to rape. You didn't think the same? Okay.

That's like interpreting a character known to hate shrimp rolls as meaning "I want to eat shrimp rolls" when she says "let's get Chinese food". Knowing a character's personality and life experiences are vital to interpreting what that character means when saying something. If you're not going to bother paying attention to the characterization, you're placing what you would do and say and how you would interpret a situation into a place it doesn't belong.
