Parents didn't allow their disabled sons and daughters to be murdered because they were evil muahahaha. They did it because very sympathetic people in lab coats who were supposed to know best managed to persuade them that euthanizing them truly was the kindest thing they could do for their poor, unfortunate children

Actually they mostly didn't allow it at all, they had no idea what had happened until it was too late. At least the majority of the children who were murdered had been institutionalised.* Generally the parents were told that the child had died of complications from their condition, or of pneumonia, or something like that. It came to light partly because some of the children's carers/ regular doctors were horrified and made efforts to protest, and partly because some of the parents managed to put two and two together and realised that what they were being told made no sense.

* I don't know about disabled children who lived at home, but if they were affected at all, they were a very small minority. But generally disabled children, particularly those with mental handicaps, were put in homes, because unfortunately that was what conventional medical wisdom (not just in Germany) said was best for everyone.
