This shouldn't be a secret. You should tell her - no good will come of keeping it all quiet.

If she's really that good a friend, then she'll be able to handle a reminder that she's not your property. If she can't handle it, well, too bad for her.

(Of course it would be interesting to have OP's friend's point of view, but I can't stand possessive people, so I'll give OP the benefit of the doubt. Either way an honest conversation might help, methinks.)

Not disagreeing about them needing to talk - but just putting it out there that it's possible, even likely, that it's not the OP's friend being possessive. There multiple reasons they could be acting this way- feeling left out, or just plain tired of hearing about the Avengers for example. Even worrying that the OP is about the 'friend-dump' them for their 'awesome' new Avengers friends is a possible reason - and, in that case, potentially a self-fulfilling prophecy. From personal experience I'd say it's either being sick of hearing about Avengers, or being left out [ymmv, of course], but I think it's a bit of a jump to automatically assume they're being possessive.
