However if you are throwing up a ton of subtext for a slash pairing and planning on blindsiding people with the het pairing out of the blue... that's not going to go over with either slash or het fans. They are all going to wonder where the fuck this pairing came from. And the gen fans are going to wonder wtf because you didn't bother to list the pairing and bam, you've subjected them with it.
