I know exactly what you mean. I actually do like Hiddleston, but he always gives me so much secondhand embarrassment in interviews and such that I start not liking him again. Then I watch Thor again and I like him again. Lol.

I like him but sometimes I find myself thinking WTF TOM, just get ANGRY FOR ONCE. I dunno, but I feel like being overly happy all the time is the same as being miserable all the time - it probably can't be good denying the opposite end of the emotional spectrum. Heh.

Though I am sure he has his stroppy moments in private and it's cool he tries to hide that from his fans but yeah. I do worry that if he does have a douchey moment (we ALL get them) everyone will freak out way too much and that won't be pleasant. Unless you like watching that sort of thing unfold.

I am sure that he has his days. But here's the thing, I think he is one of those few actors that *gets* the internet because he is a big internet geek, himself. (He has said that he never goes anywhere without his laptop.) He knows that a split second gaff on his part can end up spreading across the world faster than it takes for him to go, "Oh, crap, I shouldn't have done that."

So, I doubt you are going to get him doing meltdowns any time soon because he likes his career and he enjoys the fandom, not just the spotlight of it on him but fandom in general.

Yeah, I can see how it would be annoying. You just want him to crack to be able to say, "HAH! I knew it. You are not happy and polite all the time." But, again, I don't think we are going to see that side of him any time soon because he is indeed savvy about his image.

Heh, I've said for a while now that when we are inevitably wed, we'll basically be April and Andy. I find it terribly endearing, though, and I assume he's not really THAT cheery all the time. I mean, he's an actor; he can access all sorts of emotions. And he's actually really intelligent; it's not an airhead thing. I think he's just still in that "holy shit, I have an epic legion of fans IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING :DDDDDD" phase. D'awww, bb. <3

Oh he'd drive me absolutely bonkers if I knew him IRL, but admiring his preciousness from afar on Twitter is great.

(I'm convinced he used to be kind of a jerk though and is overcompensating now to make up for it... he talks a lot about forgiveness and judging people for who they are now, not who they were... it just strikes me as weird idk idk)

Does anyone else out there wonder if he has a little bit of a self-esteem problem or worries other people think he does (or is he just jumping out in front of the Loki woobies)?

It's mostly the way he says things like this in response to jokey questions or looks to Hemsworth for approval when they do joint interviews. And he's always so careful to make eye contact.

I'm not gonna yell at you for your involuntary response, though. I think T.H. is very not-good-looking outside of Loki styling, but he's just so gosh-darn nice and funny that I don't mind seeing him around. In fact, I'm glad he's being stanned so much when much grosser people (cough cough CUMBERBATCH) are stanned more and they're obnoxious pains in the ass in addition to having faces that make me wince.

Okay, I get not liking him for being chipper all the time -- sometimes those people can get exhausting -- but...being polite? There's plenty of awful people out there to make up for it, I'm sure. Seeing being polite and happy as being a bad thing makes very little sense to me.

I dunno, I find his public persona something of a relief. Like no matter how shitty things get, at least there's this one person that can meet every day with a smile and a silly dry little laugh.

Anyway, I think it's adorable. I'm sure it would get irritating as fuck if he really were his Mary Poppins self all the time IRL but you gotta figure mostly he's just sweet-natured and image-savvy, which is a good combination for an actor. Unusual, but good.

Actually tbh, he reminds me of this guy that works in customer service where I work--people will be screaming in his face and he'll always smile/be polite, no matter how asshole-y the person is or whatever, but as soon as it's break time or lunch time he'd be like, "god I want to kick a few puppies," but even then it's still kind of cute/adorable. lol.

Hm. This is strange one. At first I thought this was genuine. I mean, some people are really are douchebags who claim to dislike cheerful people. But, come one, everyone, even Loki haters, likes Hiddleston. This was surely a ploy to cause confusion and wank. You succeeded on the confusion part, but the wank just ain't happening. I give you a 6/10. You hit on a decent relevant, though not humorous, subject. However, you made an attempt to start Loki/Hiddleston/Tumblr wank and were unsuccessful.

I do like the muliple layers your apology at the end takes on. Ugly as in the idea of disliking a nice person is ugly? Ugly as in the design of the secret is ugly? Ugly as in Hiddleston, who is prominently featured, is often considered to be ugly?

I don't get that feeling because I generally admire anyone who's always full of smiles and happiness, but I think I can see where you're coming from. You don't have to feel obligated to like him though. I know Tumblr is very overbearing what with the huge surplus of Tom Hiddleston posts, but there's not much anyone can do. I know Tumblr Saviour exists, but oh God the amount of people who don't tag is annoying.

I think he's smart. I'm sure he has his bad days too but he also knows that just a little slip may cause him his reputation. He's an internet geek, he knows how it works. Then again, now because he's always so nice (which I personally find adorable) the moment when/if he gets angry, will seem even more severe. It's really a difficult world.

Also, I don't think he's being pretentious. I'm pretty much the same. I'm very calm, almost never lose my nerves and laugh it all away. While in public I can keep my emotions in check since I don't want any trouble. I mostly mope and rage when I'm alone. Tom might very well be the same. People just handle these things differently.
