Well aren't you knowledgable and snobby.

As far as I'm concerned, Loki is LESS sympathetic in the Avengers than in mythology? But yay, prejudgement & a whiny secret!

And besides, we all suspect the Christians got at the Norse mythology and decided to make Loki "the Devil of the North", right? So Balder became this Christ figure who didn't really feature prominently before, and Loki, who'd always been kinda chaotic neutral before, decided to murder him and refused to weep for him, etc? Still nicer & less body count than in the Avengers!

Why didn't you spit chips about Loki being Odin's adopted son rather than blood-brother? And Thor & Loki were great buddies in mythology, for a while, um surely you'd know that? But oh no Thor's hair colour!!1!

You'd really HATE other fictional adaptions of Norse mythology then, some of them are REALLY sympathetic to Loki, even compared to myth.

Agreed about Loki and Odin being blood brothers. I was pretty bewildered about that when at first.

Other fictional adaptations? Like what?

There are like 85 books on that list, any tips which ones have the more sympathetic depictions?

I'm trying to remember characterisation, of the ones I've read most were ages ago in a Norse Myth binge...

but definitely try

Runemarks/Runelight(YA, by Joanne Harris)
Eight Days of Luke (pre-YA, by Diana Wynne Jones)

Both very readable to adults. Loki is central to these stories, and likeable (even with a huge streak of darkness). OP would have a conniption. But Thor has red hair at least, IIRC!

Thanks! I'm fine with YA and kid's books (total Moomin fan, here).

Thank you so much! :D I have it on paper but I've been looking for an ebook of this one forever, to pass it to some friends who can't find/afford it.

I don't think they're that knowledgeable. Troll bait!
