Yep. I've seen enough multi-shipper cross over pairings with all of these characters that I really didn't realize there was so anti-Natasha going on between fans, especially as it's not like Hawkeye/Black Widow is an 'fficial ship' in movie canon they someone could see as needing to be destroyed for their own pet ship to work or anything.

That said, the thought that anything involving Coulson could be bad makes me a sad panda. :(

Me either. With everyone downthread seemingly agreeing I'm starting to think OP just meant "How dare they write a ship I don't like! Misogyny!"

I haven't seen a lot of character bashing either. Even when they're breaking up canonical pairings like say Tony/Pepper, I have yet to read a fic where Pepper is demonized to make room for Tony's love for Steve or what have you. I find that very, very refreshing because that kind of character bashing is all over some of my other fandoms. *cough*SGA*cough*

ugh yes, I was SO worried about that when I first dipped my toes into Steve/Tony in the MCU, because I love Pepper, but she seems to be treated with a lot of respect.

And I've only encountered love for Peggy and Darcy and Natasha and Maria and Jane in fic as well.

I'm sure the bashing is out there, but I am super happy to not have encountered it. :)

I loved Teyla, Elizabeth, Sam, but Keller was a pain in the ass before there was a even a hint of McKeller. I really hoped that things would pick up when they got rid of Carson, but his replacement was even more anoying. Sorry you can't accept anyone having an opinion other than yours.

I got really tired of coming across fics where she was the worst human ever to have lived and John had to rescue Rodney from her evil clutches. I think my patience threshold for that maxxed out on that rape fic where Keller has Rodney secretly raped in the bowels of Atlantis because that's just the kind of bitch she is.

Anyhoo, much love for the other SGA ladies as well. Let's bond over that, Nonnie.

I think Elizabeth kicks all kinds of ass. I was so sorry to see her character go. :(

Yep, here's why I still give SGA fandom a wide berth after all this time.

Hope Avengers fandom stays as cool as it is now. It's so refreshing especially after the nasty clusterfuck that was SGA fandom.

Ugh yes, this.

Most of Keller hate is because Keller is awful, not because she 'stole' Rodney from John.

Of course, I don't like to see fics that treat her as a slut for daring to have a boyfriend, but other than that I don't care because she's a terrible character.

Of course, I prefer to just read fics before she showed up rather than ones where she's bashed. I hate her, but I still don't like to see her get killed or tortured.

idk, as a Keller fan I've seen enough people talking about how she's such a "slut" because she was briefly interested in Ronon and then dated Rodney.

Like, I realize people hate her and I really honestly don't care all that much, but don't bash her for silly reasons.

That's a hilarious accusation, since she 'stole' Rodney from Katie in canon, so why go with John in that?

I detest Keller because she's an irritating character and SGA decided to make the entire show revolve around her by season 5, not because she hooked up with Rodney.

Oh, that's good! I'm mostly a Pepper/Tony fan, but I've occasionally thought about reading Steve/Tony and got kind of worried about how it would treat Pepper because I adore her.

And oh god yes SGA. Especially since my favorite characters were Weir and Keller, lol.

With Avengers, either Pepper is involved herself or she and Tony remain amicable. It's kind of amazing.

Elizabeth's my absolute favorite SGA character and it was more like Keller filled a tiny bit of the void Elizabeth left (though much later, because I kind of quit SGA when Elizabeth left....)

And no worries, I've seen enough hate of Keller various places that it pretty much doesn't phase me.

But wow, that sounds really pretty great! I was honestly worried that there would be some giant fandom backlash towards Pepper when I got into Avengers, but it's really great there isn't. :) Well done, fandom!

I'm not in the Avengers fandom at all but I thought I'd butt in and *high-five* all the Elizabeth + Jennifer love. They were both fabulous, as were all of the SGA women.

I loved Teyla, too. And Sam. I guess I just really liked the female characters of SGA? haha. It's kind of sad how the female characters were often treated in fandom, even though one of the reasons I loved SGA was because I loved how female characters were treated on the show.

I second that. Granted I just read fic and don't play in the fandom much, but in fic she is generally treated well and seen as a close friend to both of them. I like both pairings, or all three together so maybe it is what I am drawn to and I'm missing the other.

It doesn't have to be "horrible" to be an annoying or disrespectful portrayal of a character. I don't doubt that a lot of people have honest intentions and are just being thoughtless, but I've clicked on a number of Clint/Coulson fics where Natasha didn't really read like an actual person, let alone the person that we saw in the film with the relationship with Clint which we saw in the film.
