I'm the same, I had a hard time seeing who the "abusive woman" part referred to.

OP, you can try My Neighbour Totoro, Laputa or Porco Rosso, they're very different from the three you've already watched!

I think that they're talking about Toki and Kohroku? Maybe? At one point Toki says:

Toki: Thanks, stranger. My husband's an idiot, but I'm glad he's safe and sound.
Ashitaka: That's a relief. I was starting to think I'd done something wrong by bringing him back home.

which doesn't really sound abusive? To me?

I mean, I don't care if the OP doesn't like Princess Mononoke or Howl's Moving Castle, I just can't see how their reasons are accurate representations of the works involved. :/

Mm, I thought it could be Toki and Kohroku as well. But I saw them more as the "fierce lady and hen-pecked husband" couple used as comic relief characters. They really seem to love each other.

I love those films as well. I get all happy when Ashitaka catches that flying arrow with his hands. And all sappy when Sophie and Howl travel the world together.

Exactly! And I thought they really did love each other too. :)

That movie is amazing. It used to scare me, but now I think it's my favorite, and the ending of HMC always makes me D'aaaawwww. ♥
