Even if your biological clock does kick in it doesn't mean you have to have a kid just 'cos 'baww my internal clock says so'. You're supposed to be a rational minded human and able to make decisions separate from your hormones. The potential biological urge to breed should not override your brain on the subject, especially when caring for another life for eighteen-plus years is concerned.

Also yes, that picture is disgusting. But I think that of most pictures of babies. Even so, that one is extra vile. Also a rather ugly baby regardless of the snot. Ew.

Heck, if it does kick in, OP, you can, instead of having babies, work for a charity that deals with children, or maybe with animals (it's a need to nurture life, after all, right?) or get plants, or work in reforestation or help your local zoo raise and take care of the animal babies or maybe look into becoming a teacher, work in a nursery, or many other things.

This. And I second the person below-- pets are great substitutes too. You feel needed, wanted, loved, and they grow out of their baby stage SO MUCH FASTER than children!

Granted, the .5lb kitten I rescued last year went through an awful diarrhea stage that was my Worst Nightmare, but a bit of yogurt and that was cleared up pretty quick. Animals can be gross too.

But if we're really honest with ourselves, people can be downright vile as adults. I mean, a baby can't take care of itself, so snot or poop or whatever is at least normal. Then you have adult humans who pick their nose, don't wash their hands after they take a shit, don't shower for days because they're gaming/doing something else useless.

When you think about it that way, kids CAN be gross but at least they don't have a choice about it. Adults do but so many are nasty anyway. I'm sure you have a nasty habit that other people would think is gross, OP.

There are plenty of really cute kids and babies out there. Just cause you don't like them doesn't mean much. Not everyone's clock starts sounding an alarm. Babies are a LOT of work, so even if you WANT one that doesn't mean you should go get one. And hey, if you really love someone, what's a little puke/poop/piss/snot, right? You'll get old someday and maybe someone else will be cleaning your nasty old ass up. It's just a part of life. I really don't like people who think stuff is gross that isn't a choice an individual makes.

Yeah, pets are a GREAT substitute when you find out you're infertile and can't have the kids you've dreamed of!

Sorry if this is a sore subject for you, but this thread is advice for people who don't want to have kids yet still have a need to be a care giver. The fertility or infertility of the people above saying they don't want children may change some things but their decision does not.

I'm not ready for a kid yet in my life, but I have a care giving nature. Having a pet helps fulfill this desire in me. I hope that when I am ready for kids that me or my partner will be able.

This thread is about babies. About not wanting (or wanting) to have babies, finding babies cute, etc.

It was clear from the subject and from the very first comment.

This is also very obviously a sore subject for you.

So, knowing all this, why did you hit "expand" and read anyway?

for someone whose biological clock is ticking yet they don't really want kids, yeah, it is a good thing. Sometimes people just need to take care of something and feel unconditional love, which a child does give (until they turn into teenagers hahahaha), so a pet can fill that particular gap.

Being infertile and wanting kids isn't the same as someone who hated kids suddenly feeling they should reproduce before it's too late/feeling motherly urges/feeling like they should take care of something. Those are two very different scenarios and people.

Adoption is always an option, but anon you replied to clearly is still hurting. No need to rub it in. Sure, their comment was... kind of... okay, their attitude wasn't very helpful and kind of "no, it's all about me", but it's obvious they're speaking from a bad emotional place. Absolutely nothing will be accomplished by making them feel even worse.

As far as I'm concerned, if a person does't want to receive personal attacks then they shouldn't try to make an unrelated comment about themselves. They made it personal when they took an innocent comment personally.

It's the internet. If you don't want to open yourself up to the criticism of others, then keep your mouth shut. Not making sarcastic comments takes significantly less effort than typing one out and submitting it.

I'm sorry your body is that way anon.

But there are a lot of children out there you can adopt. China, Africa, within the country you are from.
They all need homes.
It's pricey, expensive and takes a long time...but so does infertility treatment or paying for a surrogate.

The process takes awhile so the child that can be yours may not be born yet.

But even though they're not your flesh and blood, these children are still as just as much yours and have so much potential to grow. They just need someone.
