Well, I'm pretty firmly against having my own children but I get depressed knowing that I have literally no one to pass my legacy onto, nobody to take care of me when I get old, etc. (that last part is the most depressing)

But then I realize that all my reasons for wanting to have a child are pretty selfish and then I don't feel so bad about my decision. There are too many people who have children for selfish reasons and then don't realize how much SELFLESSNESS goes into raising them, so they just fail as parents. Those and the people who act like kids are accessories are just the worst kind of people

I think it's more like kids today are shitty for the most part.

DA then before, but if kids today is shitty, it would follow that's because of bad parenting, ya?

Regardless, I don't think kids today are necessarily as bad as people make them out to be. It's just a number of factors, like rose-colored glasses for one's own youth, more outlets for kids to publicize being assholes, more people (and more crowds in schools and the like), and getting a different perspective on things as an adult that highlights how nasty kids can be.

Actually, I do think kids today are as bad as people make them out to be. Look at the satire cartoons about parents, kids, and the education system and the shift from a child's progress to their marks in classes is very clear.

This is not taking into consideration complaints about kids' manners these days. Sure there were shitty kids back in the days but at least they were polite.

Shitty parenting => shitty kids.
