God, I know that feeling. Yes, when it was announced, I was thinking to myself that this might turn out to be more than the first series. I thought that this could be the animated equivalent of a "demi" Xena: Warrior Princess... Then I heard about those two brothers and saw the designs and thought to myself "Man, who are these clowns?". Well, the shorter one I probably wouldn't mind since he looks like he's decent and more than a pretty face, but oy vei...

Oh, hey dude, hey!

Man, it's pretty disappointing since you just know Korra would end up being paired with the douche-baggy looking one. Mako, wasn't it? Anyway, point is, for a cartoon trying to sell itself off as a more mature show, from all the replies here, I'm gonna be more disappointed than I thought. As for Bolin, yes, he looks more interesting, but if he really proves to be one of the better characters in the series, it would be a shame for him to be wasted on plots that are heavily based on romance, love-triangles, and all that love-sick drama.

Then I heard about those two brothers and saw the designs and thought to myself "Man, who are these clowns?"

I had the same reaction. It wasn't enough to turn me off, but enough to make me wonder just what direction they were going to take, because it seemed different from the atmosphere in the initial concept art.

I then stopped following the development of the series and decided to just wait until it was released (and then stuff happened irl and no more tv for me).

I saw secrets here but refrained from seeing them because spoilers, but about halfway through the series I saw a few non-spoiler ones that were... well, not very satisfied with the series, and little by little I started following a few discussions here, seeing other secrets there... and realized that I had dodged a fandom investment bullet!
